Ceramic Kitchen Sinks
Choosing the right sink for your kitchen can be a challenge. Today your sink doesn’t have to be the traditional metal or stainless steel variety. In fact many designers today recommend the more contemporary look of a ceramic kitchen sink.
Ceramic kitchen sinks are definitely made to last and easy to maintain. The hard and smooth surface makes it easy to clean and wipe down beautifully. Unlike other types of sinks, ceramic does not stain, fade, scratch, or burn.
The ceramic sink comes in a variety of shapes, sizes, and color. As with other pottery, they can be fire clay embossed with a beautiful design, hand thrown and locally crafted, or be as simple and divine as China porcelain. Shapes are round, square, oval, and rectangle. They can be installed below the counter top surface, set under work surfaces, be freestanding and decorated on all sides (usually for bathrooms and not recommended for the kitchen), or farmer style with a finished front and deep bowl.
Colors come in many varieties to suit your decorative needs, white alone comes in many shades such as silk, pearl, and polar.
In designing your kitchen, first you need to decide if you need a single or double sink. If you are going to install a dishwasher then a single sink is probably all you need, especially if space is an issue. Usually single sinks have more depth in order to help with rinsing pots and pans. But if you want to save money or energy then a double basin will be your best option for washing and rinsing dishes. As with multi-bowl sinks, some come with a smaller sink used for food scraps.
Another thing to consider is a built-in drain board.. This is can be quite handy and a nice touch to the design of your kitchen.
Now the personality for your kitchen will be enhanced by the type of faucets, spigots, and knobs that you choose. There are many shapes and sizes to choose from. There are short and long faucets, pull out or central spray, single handle, two handle, wall mount, water filtration, and commercial mount. Some are low to the sink and long while others are high and curved. The choice of handles can be knob shaped or elaborate. As well, there are also many types of sprayers instead of handles that make it easy to rinse items.
The ceramic kitchen sink, all to fit the needs of the kitchen of your dreams.
We have come a long way since the 1920′s when earthenware sinks replaced the cast iron bases with ceramic ones.
